Our Home Brew Competition: Morgan Cup

We all have to start our brewing career somewhere. For most of us it all starts with our first attempt at home brewing. That was the case for all of us here. I brewed my first batch of beer on my apartment stove top while attending college and from that point on I was hooked. I never thought about a career involving beer at that time. I was more into the process of brewing and did it purely for enjoyment and love of beer. With that said we always are thinking of ways to give back and encourage the home brewing community. And to that end we created an event with the Mad Zymurgists Homebrew Club called the Morgan Cup.

The Morgan Cup is a home brew beer competition that we are hosting. Entrants receive honest and constructive feedback from certified judges on the beers they submit. If there was something I probably used at the beginning of my brewing career, it would have been some objective feedback, not my family and friends telling me what I wanted to hear. The point is that we are trying to help home brewers make even better beer. The best beer entered into the Morgan Cup will be brewed commercially on our 15 bbl brewhouse and served right here in our tasting room. Talk about bragging rights! In addition, we will enter the winning beer into the Professional/Amateur category at the Great American Beer Festival for a shot at a GABF medal! So not only do the entrants get good feedback, they have a shot at fame! Anyways, entry is closing soon, so submit now before enrollment is closed.
